USO Benefit Variety Show to aid
the Crisis in Ukraine
Candlelight Dinner Playhouse features The Beverly Belles,
Derek Evilsizor as Frank Sinatra, Kenny Moten, Jalyn Webb and The Honey Taps in a one-night-only
1940s style fundraising concert
JOHNSTOWN, CO (April 20, 2022) – Give 5 Productions is thrilled to partner with Candlelight Dinner Playhouse to produce a show and fundraiser for the USO as it critically aids the crisis in Ukraine.
On Tuesday, May 31, 2022 audience members will enjoy a vintage style USO variety show, delicious dinner, drinks, and dessert; and will have the opportunity to bid on silent and live auction items. All proceeds will benefit the USO.
Guests are also encouraged to don their best swing era 1940s attire. Active and retired service men and women are encouraged to wear their uniforms.
The Beverly Belles, acclaimed Andrews Sisters Touring Act featuring Michelle Sergeeff, Lynzee Jones and Julia Tobey, Derek Evilsizor as Frank Sinatra, northern Colorado favorites Kenny Moten and Jalyn Webb and The Honey Taps featuring Piper Lindsay Arpan, Kelly Maur, Rachel Turner and Kate Vallee; will perform with a 7 piece swing era band.
Candlelight Dinner Playhouse Owner Dave Clark has graciously donated his venue to support the evening’s fundraising efforts.
“We are so thrilled to partner with the Beverly Belles to raise money for the USO,” said Clark. “We are grateful for our service men and women and all that they do for our country.”
“The need in Ukraine is so critical and I was feeling helpless reading the news and emails pleading for funds to help our USO,” said Julia Tobey, Give 5 Productions founder and The Beverly Belles producer and alto singer. “Producing this concert has reminded me that we can all contribute in our own special way. Prayers for the USO and the people of Ukraine.”
The Beverly Belles were founded in Hollywood in 2014 and have toured internationally. They have opened for Hollywood A-list singers: Meghan Trainor, Katharine McPhee Foster and Seth MacFarlane; they’ve headlined at arts centers across the country, in Las Vegas, at the 1940s Ball, aboard Princess Cruise Lines and Cunard Cruise Lines and delighted audiences at Disneyland’s Grand Californian Hotel. They were commissioned to create two all-original shows for Disney, including Swingin’ on the Sea with The Beverly Belles for Disney Cruise Line and The Silver Lake Sisters show for Disneyland California Adventure in the Hollywood Tower Hotel.
With regular performances in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, female flapper-inspired tap troupe The Honey Taps made their Denver debut at Give 5 Productions’ Cottonwood Club. The performers go all out harkening a bygone era with a nostalgic wink to flappers of the 1920s and bubbly chorus girls of the swinging 1930s and 1940s.
“I am proud to have served in the United States Marine Corps in my early 20s,” said Frank Sinatra entertainer Derek Evilsizor. “Honestly, calling cadence for my squad was probably where I learned how to use my voice. I’m happy to give back to my brothers and sisters in thanks for the freedom we enjoy today.”
Kenny Moten is an actor, vocalist, director, and writer who has performed on stages across the country. Some favorite directing credits include Caroline, or Change at Aurora Fox Arts Center and Murder on the Orient Express at Candlelight Dinner Playhouse.
